Fall Bay 24 South Gower 17

Saturday the 11th of October saw Fall Bay playing South Gower away in the first local derby game of the season. Despite South Gower having a tough start to the season with regard to results, where local derbies are concerned form normally exits via the window.

The team on Saturday saw the return of Richard Furneaux from two weeks warm weather training and all the gym work had obviously paid off as the No 3 jersey was noticeably fuller!

Fall Bay 26 Pontrhydyfen 29

On Saturday Oct 4th we welcomed Pontrhydyfen to Fall Bay RFC. Based on last season, it lived up to expectations of being a closely fought game with Pontrhydyfen eventually winning by 3 points, with a final score of 29 - 26. The extremely wet and windy weather was always going to make it a difficult day for running rugby with Fall Bay playing with the strong wind in the first half. The early exchanges were dominated by handling errors, one of which in the Pontrhydyfen midfield, led to a kick and chase with Dan “Lynda Carter” Davies winning the race for the touchdown on her return from injury. Kirk Reardon converted the try to give Fall Bay a 7-0 lead. Further pressure led to a penalty from Kirk. The Pontrhydyfen forwards responded with some good driving play into the Fall Bay 22 culminating in a penalty for them.

Fall Bay 18 - Penlan 42

A tough game on Saturday 13th September with Fall Bay losing 42 - 18 at home.  Fall Bay competed well for much of the game with Penlan ultimately proving too strong for the home side.  The team never let their heads drop with a flying wingers try from Ross and Stuart Barrow scoring a late try in the corner.  All other points from Kirk Reardon.

A match report and lots of extra photos are featured on the penlan website.

Would Anyone like to volunteer to cover the Fall Bay matches in a similar manner?  A digital camera to the game every week and a rundown of the scores is all it would take?
