Fall Bay 10 Tregaron 0
Saturday the 1st of November saw Fall Bay playing Tregaron at home in the league. After two tough games the previous season including a draw at home a close encounter was expected.
Following a slightly delayed kick-off all the early pressure came from Fall Bay with strong early runs from amongst others Stuart Barrow, Steve Hewitt and Dai “clean off it”. All this early pressure failed to yield any tries for Fall Bay and also included two failed penalty kicks into the wind from the usually reliable Kirk Reardon.
The pressure finally told on the Tregaron defence, with Steve Harris taking the scoring pass following some excellent handling and support play to romp home for the try. Kirk Reardon added the conversion from the right hand side of the pitch towards the Countryman end to make the score 7 nil to Fall bay.
Towards half time Tregaron started to work their way into the game but despite the pressure and an attempt at a penalty goal they reached half time without any points.
The second half was to prove a much more even and fragmented contest with a number of penalties being conceded at the breakdown by both sides. In the second half Kirk Reardon added another penalty which was to be the last Fall Bay score of the match. With less than 10 minutes to go Kirk Reardon showed a lack of discipline and received a yellow card (His second in three matches!) for a high tackle.
Despite considerable pressure on the Fall Bay line during the second half Tregaron failed to score the try they needed. In order to try and salvage a losing bonus point the last play of the game was a penalty kick at goal from Tregaron which fell just short.
